While my artistic background is in drawing and painting, I was attracted to working with hot glass because of its many artistic and technical challenges. For more than twenty years I have been combining fused imagery with hand blown glass to create undersea creations and sculptures, many of which are incorporated into my "Ersatz" aquarium installations. Virtually all of my artwork reflects my passion for under water imagery and fish. Glassblowing in Florida.

Steve and Claudia Beckwith (Click to enlarge)

From the beginning, they discovered that the glassblowing process requires partner involvement. They see it as a dynamic art form working the glass at 2100 degrees - it is hot, it?s moving and the timing of special additions (lip wraps, color trailings, foot, handles) requires a clear choreography and coordination to make each piece work, be unique and come alive. They are Glass Art Society members, and presently display their award winning work in fine art shows throughout the southeast United States and in select galleries throughout the country.
